First trip to the ER

Today I had the pleasure of taking Cameron to the Emergency Room for the very first time. This morning Rob got up the the kids and took them downstairs. When I got up I was shocked to see Cam. His one ear was very red and swollen. We looked at him and were undecided of what to do. So after watching him for a few hours we started to get a little concerned because it seemed to be getting more swollen. So I packed him up and headed to the ER. After a few hours waiting we were put in a room. He was seen quite quickly once we were in a room. The Dr said that it looks like he was bitten by something and that he is allergic to whatever bit him. And to make matters worse once bit he got a strep infection. So they gave him two shots and send us home with some medicine. He was a real trooper.

Eins, Zwei, Drei......

So as some of you know Cameron is receiving services from our local Early Intervention group. He has been watched since he was 12 months old because he was a bit delayed with his speech. This January we had him evaluated again and he had fallen back enough to qualify for services. We have had the pleasure of being sent Lora. Lora is an Educator. This means she works on a bunch of things with him. So yesterday Kenzie and I were playing around and speaking a little bit of German when Cam started copying us. Here he is counting to ten in German. The boy has issues with English but it seems that his German is just fine. Go figure!!!

Beauty Shop

MacKenzie needed a haircut bad! So after some talking we decieded that she would wait till we went up to Jersey and that we would go a bit shorter than we have ever gone before. She loved being pampered by Linda. We really love it and so does she.

Congratulations

Just have to take the time to say Congratulations on graduating high school to my baby sister Valerie. It was my honor and pleasure to be there. Valerie is a great kid and is looking at getting things ready so she can start college in the fall. Congrats again. I love you sis!

I also thought I would post a quick picture of her new tattoo that she got as a gradutation gift from her mom. It is in honor of our dad and her mom. The doves were on a plaque that they recieved as a wedding gift and the purple heart is in honor of the Purple Heart our dad recieved in Vietnam. It turned out perfectly.

Where to start?

So as you can see I am a little bit behind in the blogging. Things have been crazy around the Swanson house for the past few weeks. We have had a lot of things going on. First I have to say special Congratulations to my baby sister Valerie. On June 12th she graduated from High School! I am so proud of her. Even though my dad wasn't there in body I know that he was there in spirit and as proud as I was to see her walk up there and receive her diploma. Kenzie got another big hair cut. We went to Valerie's graduation party and had a great time. Then we headed back home and started preparations for our own parties. This year since it was our first party back in the states and the closest to family that we have ever been since having kids we decided to split the difference and have a huge joint party for both kids in June. That included a small family BBQ on Friday to open gifts and a bigger full on party on Saturday. Throw in a Brownie to Junior Girl Scout bridging ceremony, our first real trip to the dentist, time outside in the pool and the sprinkler, father's day, a trip to the firehouse, and the fact that I got a new camera and you can imagine all the pictures and stories I have to share. So I hope to get all of this blogged and posted in the next few days. Hang in there with me as I sift through the pictures and figure out what to say. For me taking the pictures is easy knowing what to say doesn't always come so easy.

Fascination

Here is one of my new favorite pictures. I love how fascinated Cameron is with the water. He spent a good ten minutes just filling his cup with water and watching it pour on the deck. Oh to be two and be filled with so much wonder and amazement.

The Evolution of Finger Painting

This morning we decided to take Cameron on the deck and let him finger paint. While getting set up Kenzie came out and I asked her if she wanted to paint too. I was very neat to see the difference between a 2 year old and an almost 9 year old finger painting. Of course Cam ended up with paint everywhere, even on his back. So I got a plastic box with soapy water for him to wash his hands so I wouldn't have to risk taking him in the house with paint all over him. I ended up letting him get in the box to play. What a great time he had.

Rocker Boy

I just had to add this video of Cameron singing. Today he was singing the Dora song so I taped him and wanted to load it up. When I sat at the computer he came to watch so I decided to see if I could get him to sing some other songs. If you have never heard of them the Jonas Brothers are a boy band of three brothers that sing pop songs. We really didn't know who they were until we went to the White House for Easter. While at the White house we were treated to a free Jonas Brothers concert. They are popular with MacKenzie's age group. They really aren't that bad. Well Cam as developed a fondness for them too now. So here he is singing two of their songs Year 3000 and That's Just the Way We Roll.
