Happy Birthday Christy!!!

Last week on the 25th was Christy's 30ish birthday. This past Saturday was her party. A good time was had by all. Of course my gift to the birthday girl was a custom birthday cake. Two layers. The smaller top layer was a chocolate cake with marshmallow cream cheese filling (aka strawberry crack dip) and the bottom was a vanilla cake with a homemade dark chocolate ganache. Lets see how many of you know what the theme of her cake was. I am not a loyal follower of this phenomenon so I had to refer to the Internet for ideas but I was told that everyone who is a follower got the cake. I did leave out one important element but I did because I didn't think it would have worked with the cake. Here is also a picture of the birthday girl with her neighbor Mandy. They decided to roller skate, in the dark, while it was raining, at 10:30 that night. Oh and let me add they had already had a few shots of Patrone and who knows what else.
And yes Mandy had that beer in her hand the whole time she was skating.

So riveting

As you can see Cameron finds CSI New York so riveting.  He loves watching all the crime dramas with me.  I was folding laundry on the downstairs couch while watching that days episodes.  I had to go upstairs to start dinner and when Rob got home this is what he found.

What's wrong with this picture?  This is what Cam looked like after his nap today.  Can anyone figure out what made me laugh so hard????

Skater boy

Cameron has been bugging us about him playing hockey. He loves it when we go to Kenize's skating lessons. We have been trying to get him on the ice for a few weeks now but something always comes up. So this past Saturday we finally got the chance. Cameron was so excited about getting out there. But boy was he in for a huge surprise. I really don't think he was totally prepared for ice skating. He was very scared at first but then he warmed up to it. I think that mostly he was frustrated because his feet wouldn't cooperate and do what he wanted. We made it only one full lap around before both Cam and I were done with him on the ice. After handing back off to Rob to get his skates off I took off to skate with Kenzie for a while before I was done. Let me tell you skating is a lot of work. I don't know how Kenzie stays out on the ice for a full hour.

First Signs of Spring

How many Swanson's

How many Swanson's does it take to over-seed a yard????

Since we had wonderful weather this weekend Rob wanted to get out there and do a little yard work. On the list was to try to grow a bit of grass in our backyard for the kids to play in (all the backyard is mulched) and over-seed the front yard. After a lot of work and a trip to Lowes Rob started laying the seed. I went out to see how things were going and I was surprised by the seed train that was going on in the front. The kids were following him and using their imaginary seed spreaders to help lay the seed.

Snow Day

This morning we woke up to a wonderland of white.  I received the text last night from the school district that school was cancled so I turned off MacKenzie and my alarm clocks so that we could try to sleep in (Cam had other ideas).  Rob the workaholic that he is made the trek up to work for half a day.  I am finding that as I get older I hate snow more and more.  I think it is absolutley beautiful and wouldn't live any place that didn't get at least one snow fall a year but I really hate the shoveling and the cold.  Call me old and cranky but I would rather take pictures of the kids playing in it with Rob than actually get out there and get all cold and wet.  So after Rob came home he shoveld out my truck and the driveway and as soon as Cam woke up from his nap my three children headed out to play.  We have a pretty nice size hill in the back that turn  into just the right size for sledding for the kids.  Cam was even able to get some good air off of the jump Rob made.
