Fun With Chopsticks

So this week I am flying solo with the kids. Nothing new to us. One thing we like about it is that we get to eat all the foods that we like and Rob hates, mainly seafood. We have at least three seafood based meals planned for the week. MacKenzie calls it "Seafoodpaloza". We started the week off with shrimp and scallop stir-fry with lots of mushrooms and broccoli. Last year when my sister went on her high school Senior trip to Disney she brought MacKenzie back a pair of chopsticks. MacKenzie has been pestering me to teach her how to use them. A while back I saw a really cute pair of kids chopsticks in a magazine called "Buddy Chopsticks". I thought they would be the perfect way to teach the kids how to use chopsticks. They are a pair of plastic chopsticks with a little rubber man at the top (his legs are the chopsticks). The little man keeps the chopsticks together and makes the chopsticks spring open when you close them. I hadn't seen them around until the other day while at the grocery store. They had a display with them. I grabbed a pair for each of the kids. When we decided to have stir-fry I knew that it would be the perfect time to try them out. Kenzie took to them very quickly. She really enjoyed trying to pick up just one grain of rice. Cam actually does very well with them considering his age. He tends to man-handle them instead of using them gently but as you can see from the pictures he is able to eat with them. Matter of fact he kept using them even though I had put a fork on the table just in case. The kids had fun and I promised to take them with us the next time we go out and hit the China Buffet.
